Abstract
| The newsletter was founded under
the name NLFO News (National Lesbian Feminist Organization - La Crosse Chapter). The
newsletter's name was changed to Leaping La Crosse News in 1981 due to the national
disbandment of the NLFO. The newsletter's new name was inspired by a song called, "The
Leaping Lesbians" written by Sue Fink and Joelyn Grippo, and popularized by Meg Christian. In
1981, the writing, layout, editing, and circulation committee for LLN consisted of: Jill Davey,
Mary O'Sullivan, Lois Blank, Jena Requist, Mary Fitzwater, and (probably) Nancy Humphries.
From 1982 to 2000, Mary O'Sullivan led the newsletter and was responsible for the bulk of the
intellectual contributions. Any unattributed articles found in the newsletter during this time
were most likely written by her. From 2001 to 2005, Jeanne Fischer took over the leadership
and content creation of the newsletter. Newsletter leadership was then passed to Shelly
Koonce in 2006. The final regular issue of the publication was produced by Koonce and Fischer
in January 2007. A special edition final issue of the publication, chronicling the newsletter's
history, was written and produced in October 2007 by Mary O'Sullivan. |
