The photograph's caption reads: "Brushing up on what to expect July 16-25 at Valley Forge Pa., National Park was engaged in by the Gateway Area Council of Boy Scouts at Camp Decorah last weekend. Fifty-six boys from the Gateway area, plus leaders, will be among 50,000 scouts and leaders at the national jamboree. A paddle is held by some of the leaders (above) from Kermit R. Groothius of Tomah, Eugene O. Manus of Stanley, Chippewa Valley Council of Boy Scouts, Richard C. Bradford of La Crosse, Robert G. Docken of Galesville, and Harold R. Guthrie of Cornell, Chippewa Valley Council. In middle picture, some stenciling of equipment is taken care of by, from left, Docken, Lyle Montgomery, also of Galesville, Paul Phillips of La Crosse and Marvin Groothius of Tomah. There'll be plenty of eating, too, at Valley Forge: shown, from left, Jim Berg, Tom Bradford and Jim Davison, all of La Crosse, go through some of routine."
On the envelope housing the negative is written: "June 27, 1964. Boy Scouts - planning to go to Valley Forge PA for camping." |
