Abstract
| This photograph was published in the La Crosse Tribune on June 25, 1963. The photograph's caption reads: "The La Crosse Dredging Co. of Chicago, holders of the $574,032 contract to prepare the bridgehead work for the I-90 bridge across Black River, is well under way with tree cutting (left). Its dredging barge and equipment, including electrical power substation on a floating craft in right of center picture, is to begin pumping operations next week. In right picture, a 700-foot drainage ditch was scheduled to have been completed Tuesday - the first project accomplished for the I-90 contract locally - by Domke Grading and Excavating Contractors. The drainage ditch is situated on French Island on the west shore of the Black River at a point east of Calloway's Island Park Addition. Boat owners on Black River, in the area, Tuesday were ordered to remove their boats in preparation for the dredging."
On the envelope housing the negative is written: "June 25, 1963. I-90 work at Black River crossing." |
