Abstract
| This photograph was published in the La Crosse Tribune on October 1, 1966. The photograph's caption reads: "Representatives of La Crosse State University sororities displayed their athletic prowess in the annual Powder Puff Olympics sponsored by Tau Kappa Epsilon fraternity Saturday. Above, Nancy Somdahl of Alpha XI Delta, wins the frozen limbo by dancing under a stick without losing an ice cube held under her chin. At left, Delta Zeta's Judy Fenner, under the watchful eyes of a TKE judge, crosses the finish line first in the pail run. Each contestant had to race with one foot in a bucket which also contained two raw eggs. Upper right, an Alpha Phi laughs reufully after losing the egg toss, while the result drips out of her hand. Lower right, the Alpha Omicron Pi wheelbarrow race team heads toward victory. Alpha XI Delta won the Powder Puff trophy, defeating Alpha Phi in a spelldown after the two sororities had finished in a tie for first place at the completion of the athletic events."
On the envelope housing the negative is written: "October 1, 1966. La Crosse State University - Powder Puff Olympics." |
