Abstract
| This photograph was published in the La Crosse Tribune on April 15, 1962. The photograph's caption reads: "Milwaukee ace bowler Ray Schanen, left, and La Crosse's Jim Wais show the form they used during their match Saturday afternoon at the Pla-Mor. Schanen, on a tour of this area, shot a 713 series on games of 210, 226, and 277. Wais checked off a 653 count on single games of 206, 226, 221. Schanen bowled his count without an open frame. In the third game he had five strikes in a row, spared the sixth, and hit five more strikes before getting an eight-pin count on the last ball. Wais made five straight strikes in the second grade game, but was tripped up by the difficult 7-10 in the second."
On the envelope housing the negative is written: "April 14, 1962. Bowling - Jim Wais vs Ray Schanen at Pla-Mor alley." |
