Abstract
| This photograph was published in the La Crosse Tribune on November 7, 1962 with the article "Organization, Duties Outlined - County Survival Plan Approved By State, U.S.." The photograph's caption reads: "La Crosse County Civil Defense Director Herman Harder examines the results of one mock nuclear attack on the United States. During such test attacks, the civil defense network maps fallout from simulated nuclear explosions. Harder points to La Crosse on this Midwest map, showing the city missed the worst of the mock attack. The county CD director is a graduate of the civil defense staff college."
