Abstract
| This photograph was published in the La Crosse Tribune on June 26, 1962. The photograph's caption reads: "Billows of smoke from burning fiber duct conduit gave the impression of a larger fire Monday afternoon in the downtown area. The conduit, at the Northern States Power Co. Edison PLant, in the 400 block on S. 3rd Street, is made of an asphaltic material. The conduit was ignited by sparks from a chimney at the John Torrance Foundry just across the alley, firemen said Tuesday. Some lumber also burned."
On the envelope housing the negative is written: "June 25, 1962. Fire - 2nd St. between King & Jay Sts." |
