Abstract
| This photograph was published in the La Crosse Tribune on June 25, 1965. The photograph's caption reads: "The body of Francis Kirking, 22-year-old Peace Corps worker from Cashton, was recovered Thursday in the Iranian port of Farahnaz. Kirking, stationed in Iran since 1964, drowned Wednesday attempting to save an Iranian friend, who also drowned. He was the son of Mr. and Mrs. Lester Kirking Sr., of R. 1, Cashton. A memorial Mass is planned at 10 a.m. Monday in Sacred Heart Catholic Church at Cashton, Rev. Thomas Mannion officiating. A brother, Donovan, in the Army in Hawaii, is flying home for the service. The body is expected to arrive in Cashton Tuesday."
