Abstract
| This photograph was published in the La Crosse Tribune on September 26, 1948. The photograph's caption reads: "It Was Labor's Day To Celebrate and unions of the AFL, and CIO in La Crosse did just that Monday. There were two parades during the morning, with the CIO procession going to Copeland park and the AFL unions marching to Myrick park. Picnics were the order for the remainder of the day, with short speaking programs being arranged at each outing during the afternoon. Both parades started out promptly under efficient marshals, with the CIO parade leaving Pioneer Labor hall at 9 a.m. and going north on Fourth, the Causeway and Copeland avenue to Copeland park. The AFL parade, organized at the market square, going norrth on Fourth to Main, east on Main to West avenue, north on West avenue and over Forest avenue to La Crosse and east to Myrick park. Heading the AFL parade was the Central high school band. Another group was the fireman's union. Among entries in the CIO parade were two floats, one of the 'Horn of Plenty' of the UAW local 396 and the other by UAW local 395."
